The Magnetic Spheres

The Magnetic Spheres

These magnetic balls, designed in uniform measure, serve as an unsurpassed decompression toy. Their smooth spherical form and sheer magnetic strength will have you fidgeting with playful dexterity. They are formed from finely powdered iron oxide in a phased process where a strong magnetic field is applied to the material so that the molecular poles line up to form a permanent magnet. Their surface is copiously and meticulously electroplated with our industry-leading plating process.

A popular legend describing the discovery of the natural magnetic field relates the tale of a Greek Shepherd named Magnus who lived in Magnesia near Mount Ida, "Mountain of Goddess," a region located on the Aegean Coast in present-day Turkey. While herding sheep on the mountain Magnus noticed that the metal on his sandals and staff were attracted to the ground. Intrigued by the this phenomenon, he dug up the earth and found lodestones. The word magnet is derived from the Greek name magnetis lithos, the stone of Magnesia, and the term remained following the discovery of artificial magnetics in the 1600s.
